Just off the toe of India, resting in the Indian Ocean is the
teardrop island of Sri Lanka. With outstanding tropical conditions, low
costs, friendly natives and expansive beaches, Sri Lanka is a recipe for
a heavenly holiday in the sun. Here, amongst the coconut palms,
beautiful bays and clear warm waters is an incredible offshore coral
garden.
Day 01 Colombo Arrival and transfer directly to Colombo. On arrival check into the hotel. Later proceed for sightseeing of Colombo including the Galle Face Green, busy street bazaars of Pettah, Dutch period museum & Wolfendhal Church - Colombo's oldest Dutch church, and to the northern suburb to visit the Kelaniya temple, where Lord Buddha was reputed to have preached over 2000 years ago. Visit the National Museum and do some shopping. Overnight at Colombo. Day 02 Colombo–Habarana After breakfast drive to Habarana (205Kms)- it is situated in a wood full of wild life, on the edges of an ancient irrigation lake. Enroute visit Pinnawala elephant orphanage, a famous government run orphanage which is home to retired, abused or orphaned Elephants. Pinnawala is reputed as one of, if not the, largest centres of its nature in the world, with one of the most successful captive breeding programmes for Asian elephants. On arrival check into the hotel. Later in the afternoon visit Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka‘s medieval capital. Back to Habarana. Dinner and overnight at Habarana. Day 03 Habarana–Kandy After breakfast leave for Kandy (135Kms). Kandy, situated beside a lake in the hills just below the center of Sri Lanka, is the country's cultural centre. Enroute visit Dambulla Cave temple- the name Dambulla derives from Damba - Rock and Ulla - fountain. One sees the incessant drip of water from the fountain within the main image house. Later visit the spice garden in Matale. Arrival at Kandy and check into the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Kandy. Day 04 Kandy After breakfast proceed to Pusselawa to visit a Tea factory and a plantation. Later in the afternoon proceed for sightseeing tour of Kandy including visit to the temple Of the tooth, said to house a relic from the mouth of the Lord Buddha himself, which was said to have been taken from the flames of his funeral pyre and smuggled to Ceylon in the hair of a princess. Late evening witness a cultural Kandyan dance performance. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Kandy. Day 05 Kandy–Bentota After breakfast leave for South Coast Bentota, enroute visiting Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, established in 1821. The site is less than four miles from Kandy on the Colombo road, and occupies a loop of the river Mahaweli. The area, nearly 150 acres in extent, is beautifully undulated, its average elevation above sea-level being about 1,540 feet. Dinner and overnight at Bentota Day 06 Bentota Morning full day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Bentota. Day 07 Bentota–Colombo Morning after breakfast day is at leisure to enjoy beach activities. Later in the afternoon leave for Colombo. On arrival check into the hotel. Overnight at Colombo. Day 08 Overseas Morning after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your International flight. |
